Gardening with masking tape

Dear readers, as you can see, I am fond of masking tape these days! You can create and decorate so many beautiful things with masking tape. Since spring has finally arrived in Germany, I also used masking tape to decorate my balcony.

With masking tape, I jazzed up an old metal planter in no time! For this I used two different masking tapes and put them on the planter in two lanes. The upper lane is green spotted and the other tape is green striped. Because the planter has sloping sides, I had to pleat the tape a bit, but you can hardly see it.

Now, my yellow daffodils, white daisies and white Lobularia maritima look even prettier!

Well, and you might remember that I love combining pink and orange. So, this color combination can't be missing this spring. Here I planted pink daisies, orange marigold and pink and purple fuchsia.

Upcycling is fun

Hallo Ihr Lieben, Upcycling macht so viel Spaß!

Dear readers, upcycling is so much fun! I just had to upcycle another old tin formerly containing gingerbread. With masking tape and other things I decorated it in no time!

You would like to do it yourself? Well, you just need a tin, spray paint, masking tape, ribbons, gift tags and stickers. By the way, I bought tape and all the other decoration at Small Treasures!

Before you spray the tin, clean it and lift the lid a bit in order to prevent paint missing under the lid leaving ugly marks. Spray more than one layer until the paint covers well. Please remember to let the paint dry properly after spraying each layer. After your tin has dried, you may already start decorating your tin! Masking tape and stickers stick to your tin very well, but be careful with glue - some glue makes the paint dissolve. My advice: use solvent-free glue.

After you've decorated your tin, you may fill it, for example with cookies. This is a great gift! For your inspiration, see another tin I've upcycled above.

Yes, I will

Dear readers, please don't get confused when reading a new name on our websites. Even if it says "Marie-Christine Brendle" instead of "Marie-Christine Twardy", it is still me. I am sure you have already worked it out, I got married!

My husband and I have been together for many years, but now we've decided to get married! And I am so happy on cloud nine.

Please enjoy watching the photos! Now I have to practice to answer the phone with Marie-Christine Brendle. I can already sign with my new signature.

Tequila Sunrise - felted

Dear readers, what do you think about a delicious cocktail? Well, you can not drink this one, but it is quite sweet. This is Tequila Sunrise, a felted cocktail bear rimmed with sugar. He is also decorated with a cherry and a straw. Have fun watching his photos!

I felted this little bear out of white, yellow and orange wool creating gradations in color from yellow to red, which is typical for Tequila Sunrise. His toes have also been felted with yellow wool.

Tequila Sunrise also carries a felted cherry and a straw with him. His glittering sugar rimming has been realized using glass beads and rhinestones. I have embroidered his nose and claws with orange thread.

His body is shaped like a pretty cocktail glass. Tequila Sunrise is quite movable with five twine joints (legs, arms, neck). He is able to sit and stand properly. His black glass eyes make him a real teddy bear.

  • Name: Tequila Sunrise
  • Size: 11 cm (4.3 ")

Sakura no hana (Cherry blossom)

Details:
  • Name: Sakura no hana
  • Größe: 17 cm
  • Gelenke: 8
  • Gewicht: 91 g
  • Geburtstag: 2. April 2013

Dear readers, today I would like to introduce a little Japanese style teddy girl, her name is Sakura no hana. Her name means Cherry blossom and in Japan, it represents springtime. Maybe Sakura no hana finally brings us spring-like weather and temperatures here in the northern hemisphere.

Sakura no hana has a big head and big eyes, which is typical for manga style. For a Japanese style teddy bear, she has quite long legs and stretched out feet, which makes her look delicate. She can not stand properly - but she can tiptoe!

Like a cherry blossom, Sakura no hana is light pink and pink. Her fur has been made out of light pink short pile sparse mohair and pink long pile sparse mohair covers inner ears, chest and feet. I decorated her pink mohair bib with white edging and she wears a white bow behind her left ear. Additionally, her bib is decorated with two sweet buttons.

In order to shape the bear´s face, feet and hands I used the needle sculpting technique. Her nose and claws have been stitched using a pink yarn. Furthermore, I realized the white of her eyes using white wool felt. Due to her filling, which is mineral granules and sheep's wool, she is quite heavy for her size.

With eight joints (arms, legs, wrists and double neck joints) Sakura no haha is very movable.

Details:
  • Name: Sakura no hana
  • Size: 17 cm (6.7")
  • Joints: 8
  • Weight: 91 g
  • Birthday: 2nd April 2013

Sakura no hana is a good teddy girl who loves flowers. Her favorite sweets are candied flowers. She loves to make this delicacy at home: Take rose petals or daisy flowers, coat them with egg white and sugar them, then let them dry in the oven at 50 degrees centigrade for an hour. But she also likes bread with butter and elder blossom jelly. Her favorite drink is elder blossom lemonade.

Sakura no hana has found a wonderful new home at Mrs Braun's in Böblingen.
